Get Smarter
Apologies for the lack in posts. We went to California on Friday and attended a funeral for Sir Luke‘s AMAZING grandfather. I can only hope to leave such a legacy for my family.
Last night we celebrated the natal anniversary of our friend Nate. He and his wife and his family went to a buffet at The Cannery and then saw Get Smart.
It was my first Las Vegas buffet and probably my second or third buffet ever in my life. We wern’t buffet people in my family. It was a pretty decent experience, the food was ok. I have to say that the only point of buffets is over indulgence and I definitely overindulged.
I found out that Monday mornings at 9:30 the Cannery movie theater shows a free movie. Yesterday’s movie was “Dial M for Murder.” That is a great movie. Too bad I work.
I was so excited when I found out we were seeing Get Smart. I watched Get Smart on Nick-at-Night as a kid and loved the shoe phone and Agent 99. I did enjoy the movie but I felt like there was much left out from Maxwell Smart’s character played by Steve Carrell. There were about four times when he actually attempted to channel the goofy accidental saves that Maxwell was known for. As a whole I enjoyed it and would recommend it for some mindless entertainment. But if you have a tender spot in your heart for the 60s television show, don’t expect it to follow suit. Other than a lot of opening and closing doors and the telephone booth elevator it was lacking in the series’ charm. Oh, and there was a shoe phone as well.
