Ann Poulson or IHC?
For lunch today I made grilled cheese sandwiches.
When I asked Sir Luke if he wanted his Ann Poulson style he got a little confused. Because as well as being our fine friend form New York she also knows how to make the best grilled cheese sandwich ever. My old roommate Holly and I were going to make ourselves some grilled cheese one day when Ann suggested her family’s secret, raspberry jam. Now we were both a little put off but we went with it. Lo and behold, DELISH!
So while Sir Luke will have a boring ol’ regs grilled cheese, I will be dining on grilled cheese a la Ann Poulson.
I’ve decided one way I will mess up my kids is offering them grilled cheese either by calling it Ann Poulson or IHC. IHC, of course, refers to how I always took my grilled cheese at the Hospital in Provo, with tomato. Mmmm.
P.S. That is not my sandwich.
Teach your children the correct way to eat a grilled cheese sandwich when they are young and when they are grown they will not depart from it. Who knew this would be my legacy to the Stay family?
That looks like a Monte Cristo! Grill it in French toast seasoning, add some ham to the cheese, and dip in jelly and powdered sugar.
IHC-style is the way Luke and I grew up – grill it without the top slice of bread, cover the tomato in cheese. Delicious… Oh, and a little Mayo on the bread adds just the right touch. 🙂
yessss! that’s the only way i knew how to eat grilled cheese. slathered with jam! although IHC does make a mean grilled cheese midnight snack.
Mmmmm…IHC grilled cheese…yummmm. I miss their omelet nights.
And I love me a Monte Cristo. I’ll have to try an Ann Poulson style grilled cheese.
