Trying to Lose Some of the Weight
I could make all kinds of excuses for gaining back all of my weight that I lost back in 2004.
- Stress
- No time to go to the gym
- Working for a food photographer
- Taking pills to postpone parenthood for a time
Blah, blah, blah. But the real reason is lack of exercise and eating too much. That means I’ve been taking in way too many calories and not burning them off. A month ago I decided to make a goal, a real weight goal. With no money to go to the gym and the capability of working out at home I set out on a mission.
One pound in one week.
So far, I’ve lost four pounds. Yes it’s small, but it’s a start. And, I’m meeting my goal. I’ve cut my consumption in half (I wonder what on earth I’ve been eating for the past few months) and I exercise for about 30 minutes every morning. I also make it a point to wander around from one warehouse to the other at work. I drink about ten cups of water a day and have attempted to spread my lunch out over the entire work day; yogurt at 10am, sandwich at noon, and fruit at 3pm.
I’ve been weighing myself on our pallet scale at work…which is a little demeaning but what can I do?
I think that this whole thing will blow over once I can actually fit into my jeans again. Then it will be about getting back to a place where I was more confident and comfortable.
For Amsticle
I have never known anyone in my life who loves cats and whales as much as Amy Lee. Amy and I grew up together and then I was lucky enough to live with her through all four years of college, minus a semester “abroad” in New York and Paris.
If Amy liked to wear t-shirts I would totally get this one for her birthday which is coming up soon.
If you know Amy at all you will know that she hates luminous and moist burgeoning cornucopias. But she does love a good chupacabra.
City of Angels
I’m off to Los Angeles for the weekend to shoot a wedding with my new toy.
It’s been a while since I’ve shot a wedding but with all of the wedding photos and other wedding related things I’ve gone over in the past year I feel more prepared than ever. I’ll be back Monday!
Subway Modern
I like this better than “The Map.”
I think they should bring it back. I don’t care if it’s more ambiguous. I wouldn’t mind getting lost while looking at that.
This American Life
Last year when Christina went to Lincoln Center to see/listen to a live taping of “This American Life,” I didn’t know what it was or why she just had to go.
It wasn’t until Sir Luke and I drove across the United States in January that I understood the greatness. I love the stories of real people. Interesting people. Sad stories, and deeply happy stories, silly and wild stories. Some stories are real, others, not.
There are generally three parts to every one hour episode.
We downloaded a few more before our drive to Utah last weekend.
Now, I want to learn more about cryogenics, armadillos, and Jerry Springer.
I think you should try it out if you haven’t all ready. I like it while I’m driving. I think I’ll download some more for my commute to and from work.
