Logo in the Making
I am SO excited about my new branding! My dear friend Becca Clason is a brilliant artist and designer and her hand lettering skills are unreal. She and her husband are driving around the country in a truck with an Airstream. They’re pretty much living my dream. Sir Luke and I are totally up for this kind of adventure in the future.
I hired Becca to hand letter a new logo for me and I’m really excited about what she’s shown me so far! Take a look:

Editorial Family Portraits in Olympia, WA
While my mom and I were on our epic trip in April (more to come on that adventure soon!) we stayed with my brother and his family in Olympia, WA. I’ve only ever been to Seattle and I;d not seen their new home at that point.
It was unreal.
For a girl who has spent nearly five years living in a desert the beauty of the forrest, mountains, fields, and grandness of nature as a whole were overwhelming. My brother grew up, like I did, in the city/suburbia. He was always so cool to me when I was a small lasse. He gave me remote control cars for my birthdays and always had a motorcycle and a leather jacket. He and his son moved to WA about ten years ago. This is where he met my amazing sister-in-law, Christa. She. Is. Incredible. My brother was a little bit of a wild child and she tamed the beast! They have four girls together and have another (we don’t know if the baby is a boy or a girl yet!) on the way.
I think there is something so special about photographing a family in their natural element, just like I did with the Johnsons a few weeks ago. There is a time and place for a structured family photo shoot, but don’t be afraid to have a photographer come in a capture your daily routine, or a fun day you have planned. Those genuine moments will become treasured memories of you and your children’s personalities, interests, and love for one another.
With my brother’s family, they spend most of their time out on their farm. Riding horses, feeding goats, and exploring were on the docket for both days. The girls chose their own clothes and weren’t primped and I love everything about the images because of it.

Featured: A Graphic Designer’s DIY Wedding!
So happy to share another wedding that Little Vegas Wedding featured on their blog! Kate and Regan were married in March of 2011. Their envelope guestbook has gone viral, that’s how many great designs they came up with for their wedding day. Check out my original post to see all the amazing wedding day details!
Thanks, again for the feature, Jen!
Johanna: Senior Portraits Las Vegas
When I had my senior photos taken I tried to do my own hair and makeup. I got my photos back and cried. It was horrendous. So my sweet mother set up an appointment to have the hair and makeup did and tried for rund two with a new outfit. The results were far superior. However I don’t remember looking this gorgeous!
I’ve known Johanna for nearly five years! She sings, models, acts. Essentially a one woman show. Plus she writes her own music. Love this chica.
Have a great senior year, Hannah!!
Make it Monday: DIY Cactus Decor
Friends! It’s been a couple weeks since the last Make it Monday post. My sincerest apologies! But here is a fun and easy project. You could use this in photo booths (make them HUGE!), on treat tables, or add glitter numbers to help your guests find their seats! Add a couple tissue paper flowers to match the hues of your wedding day.
What you’ll need:
- Corrugated cardboard
- Spray paint (in a couple shades of green)
- Heavy duty scissors
- Tooth picks
- Terra cotta pot (depending ont he size of your cactus
Step 1: Draw out your cactus design. I freehanded mine but you can print out a picture of a cactus from a Google Image search. I drew a long “stem” on my cactus so it will go all the way to the bottom of the pot. This way it will stand in the center of the pot after you’ve “planted” it!
Step 2: Use your heavy duty scissors and cut out the cactus shape.
Step 3: Use one darker color all over, front and back of your cactus. Let it dry.
Step 4: Choose a lighter color green to spray the tips of the cactus. I held a piece of cardboard over the main part of the cactus. My advise would be to hold out the blocking cardboard farther from your cactus so you don’t get hard lines….like I did… wah wah… And let it dry.
Step 5: Cut toothpicks in half with your heavy duty scissors
Step 6: Push cuts ends of toothpicks in the edges of the cactus. They will fit well in the corrugated edges. Tip: Use the sharp side of a toothpick to make a hole and then stick the cut side in. You can glue them in to keep them from falling out if they are loose.
Step 7: Fill with rocks on equal sides so it stands up in the center.
