Maid Marian Wishes She Was Coming This Weekend!

Posted on Jan 29, 2007

Just check out the activities that I will be participating in this weekend. It’s going to be so so awesome I can’t even stand it! Becca is by far the best party/trip planner of my life. I don’t know how she does it!

Nottinghammers,

5 more days. That’s all. Here are the vital details.

* The trip will go from Thursday, Feb 1 to Sunday, Feb 4.
* Some people are going up Thursday night after work and everyone else is going up Friday after work.
* We are staying at Nottingham Village at Friar Tuck Resort in Catskill, NY. See for more details
* Some of the things the resort has on-site include: indoor and outdoor pools, jacuzzi, sauna, fitness center, King Richard’s gift shop, fishing, spa, arcade, outdoor basketball and tennis courts, etc.
* There are 15 people going and 3 bedrooms.
* The total cost for the trip (including transportation, food and lodging) is $90 even. Everyone will pay the same amount regardless of how you traveled, how much you eat or which room you sleep in. See me for details and confusion. Oh and as a side note, we will eat well…
* Extra activities are an additional cost. Skiing/snowboarding at Hunter Mountain (the closest mountain) is $45.90 on Friday or $51.30 on Saturday if you buy your lift tickets online at http://www.huntermtn.com/. Otherwise, tickets are about $5 more and rental is additional. Hunter Mountain also has snowshoeing for $30 (includes trail pass, lift ticket and rental), snowtubing for $16 per 2-hour session. Nearby, cross-country skiing goes from $30 for a full day (with rental) to $25 for a half day. Go to www.mtntrails.com for more info. Also nearby, snowmobiling and horseback riding cost about $40-ish for an hour. Go to http://www.bearcreeklandinghunter.com/index.htm for more details. There are also plenty of hiking trails near the resort and near the ski mountains as well as antique shops, etc. These are just a few options. You can check things out yourself with a little web surfing. And if all you’re looking for is a weekend away from the city, count on it. Just veg in front of the tv all day if that’s what you want. Oh, and cell phones won’t work.
* Very rough and skeletal itinerary: Friday night-amazing feast of a dinner, dancing, hot tubbing, etc. Saturday-hit the slopes, hit the trails, hit the hot tub, etc. and then repeat Friday night. Sunday-check out by 10 and casually head back to the city perhaps stopping and playing along the way…

So now that I’ve given you my info, here’s the info I need from you in order to work out transportation. I need it from everyone! Even if I’ve already talked to you, assume I’m clueless (it’s usually a safe assumption). Please let me know the following.

1. What day you are planning on leaving (Thursday or Friday)?
2. What time is the EARLIEST you can leave on those days? Please be cool about times. They later you can leave, the later everyone else has to wait for you and the resort is about 2 hours away. Keep in mind that getting out of the city on Friday night is not going to be fun either. So pack the night before. Bring your bag to work. Work out the details.
3. When do you HAVE to be back on Sunday? Again, try to be cool about times. We can work stuff out to accommodate schedules, but try to plan ahead and be flexible for the sake of the group.

If you are flexible about stuff, give me ranges and preferences. Let me know ASAP. Thanks.

P.S. I wish I could communicate through electronic mail how much my sanity for the last few weeks has depended on planning this trip. Thank you for the privilege and know that I am beyong excited.
P.P.S . Megan and PT, will you pass this on to Christina and Kristin and ask them to respond?
P.P.P.S. My Cougars remain undefeated this season. My nephews remain freaking adorable. I am the most blessed person ever!

Libs Time (Pronounced Lybs)

So that is right friends. I have finally decided to finish my stats class once and for all. To achieve this I enlisted the help of my roommate and scholarly example Karen. You may recognize her for her great wisdom and haircutting skills in The Devil’s Haircut video which is still getting hits left and right on YouTube…weird.

Karen is getting her PhD in Emergency Education at Columbia. She’s pretty much the most brilliant and selfless person I know.

One of my New Years Resolutions was to go to the library with her at Columbia. And I made it starting last week. This will be my second round. Work got a little hectic this week so Saturday it is. Woohoo!

My favorite thing is the architecture of this place! I mean seriously, blue ceilings?

I mean really, who wouldn’t want to study in a place like this?

So I wanted to commemorate the moment and take a picture of Karen studying her little brains out, rather writing her giant Dissertation or whatever it is you have to do to get a PhD. So I take a picture of her and she decides to take a picture of me. Now keep in mind it’s absolutely silent, as most libraries are and we’re sorta making a ruckus as it is. Then as she takes a picture of me… the flash goes off… I start cracking up and then when I recover she takes another. See below

Then as we were trying to find some guy to let Karen back into her office to drop off her computer I found a lovely place to sleep. So i decided to curl up for the night and save myself the trouble of coming back again the next day.

Why on earth don’t they have these everywhere in the HBLL?

Violation!

Yesterday I received an email from YouTube telling me that Universal Music Publishing Group has complained that one of my videos is infringing on their copyright. They pulled the video and I deleted it because no one can watch it anymore. This is all due to the fact that I had “Let’s Go Crazy” by Prince as the song throughout the video.

Boo on Universal Music Publishing Group

What am I doing to hurt you? If anything people are more interested in Prince than they were before! Subway mayhem was freaking awesome! And now no one gets to bask in all it’s glory.

Boo! Boo I say!

I’m probably infringing on something now as we speak…

Roebling Rabbits

It’s official, I am obsessed with bunnies!

Christina and I have found this site about a bunny named Roebling in Brookyln. And I watch it all the time! It is a house with cameras set up so you can watch the bunny all day!

Roebling playing

Roebling asleep

He was named after John Roebling who designed the Brooklyn Bridge.

I want a bunny…

Old Lady = Cat Lady

Why does the New York Times have to publish this article with a picture of a woman with a cat?

Don’t we associate single “spinsters” with cats enough as it is?

I think I might be EXCITED!

So when you start planning what you’re going to do on a trip to Provo two months before you go it could be considered strange but I’m just too excited to care at this point. So I thought I’d make a sorta list of the things that I plan on doing whilst I am in the beehive state.

Thursday Night March 16th (which is technically Friday)12:15AM

Arrive at SLC airport

Britta picks me up

We drive to Provo and immediately go to the hospital cafe for grilled cheese with tomato and fries..FRY SAUCE!!!!

Friday March 16th 8:00AM

Go take my stats tests and get freaking graduate for once in my life! (yes I’m still not done, mock me if you will but it’s hard to have a “real person” job AND want to do school work. I don’t know how people do it)

Go eat at J-Dawgs!!!

Go to DI!

Go to BYU campus and see Erik Dalzen‘s show, which will hopefully be up in the H-FACE.

Then I will try and see John Telford while I’m there as well.

And I will probably find one of you suckers with a BYU ID that can get me some binding thread and cool paper at the stock room. So be on the look out for me to come mooch off of you! Don’t worry I’ll put the $ on your card for you!

Hopefully a visit to the old Special Collections Lab to see some old an new faces!

Play time at night with some of you lucky peeps that I need to see!

Saturday March 17th

Kneaders for endless cinnamon French toast, mmmm. I will travel to Pleasant Grove if the one in Provo is out, I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again!

Go see (insert your name here if you are in the Provo area on Friday March 16th)
I have a list of people I will be seeing so perhaps there are plans we could make collectively as a group. Like dinner at the Smokehouse or something! YESSSS!! Because I will be eating there whilst in Provo.

Then that evening off to South Jordan to see my niece Kahla (Kayla) in Suessical the Musical. Anyone so inclined may attend with me. I gather that it will be fantastic. And my niece sings very well, although I’m not sure how much soloing she will be doing.

Then I will spend the night in South Jordan with the Family

Sunday March 18th

Go to church with the fam and spend the day eating and talking and having a jolly good time.

11:34 PM fly back to NYC

Monday March 19th

Arrive in NYC at 5:34 AM

Go home…go to work…die.

(If you have any further suggestions or ideas about what else I should do and whether or not you can fit me in your calendar I am open to many things. I am just excited to be going back my friends…is that weird?)
