Photography
I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY. In case that wasn’t clear.
Yesterday we did Austin’s first birthday (which is today!) session. He is so adorable and we had a lot of fun. He definitely loves to crunch on rocks! Thanks to Heidi for helping me wrangle her cutie. How awesome is she to play peek-a-boo from behind a reflector?
I am also invited to the exclusive first birthday party. I made Austin a memory game with pictures of important people in his life. It’s definitely a prototype but I think it came out well for a first try! For all those interested in making one I’d suggest something aside from foam-core to attach the images and contact paper. It crumbles and leaves too jagged of an edge.
I hope he, mom and dad like it! Happy first birthday Austin!

Beaches
No, not the movie. Actual beaches. I miss beaches terribly. I think I took it for granted growing up over the mountains from the salty air of Zuma Beach in Malibu, CA.
My dad’s parents had a beach house while he was growing up. The majority of the time it was rented out as a vacation home but during the 70s and 80s my grandparents lived there. Unfortunately the house washed out to see in 1983 during a serious storm. It was a really hard time for my family, memories washed away along with irreplaceable possessions. My grandmother passed away shortly there after but we still make trips down to THE rock that was in front of her little oceanfront house.
My cousin Jeff works for Adobe (lucky!) and made this amazing PDF with old video from the beach days. To view the PDF in it’s full glory you need to have the newest version of Adobe Reader: http://www.adobe.com/products/
Mmmm, beach.
Week of Love
Being the week of love I decided to share some love with you.
I Love Lucy. Literally. It’s funny I was going through an old box and found a journal entry from 3rd grade in which I state that I Love Lucy is my favorite television show. Sometimes I wonder if I was born in the wrong decade.
Won’t you love Lucy with me?
I think this may have been where my fascination with old Hollywood came from.
Birth Stories
I had to make a new Facebook page for MegRuth Photography because I didn’t realize at the time of creation that I could NEVER change the name of the Fan Page…so I made a new one with the correct title. MegRuth Photography
So if you became a fan before, could you do it again? And if you didn’t before maybe could you do it this time?
Also, I made a little slide show with the photos from Ben’s & James’ birth stories. I’m posting them on my Facebook Fan Page under videos.
I finally added the Birth Story pricing to my website. So check it out and spread the word!
A Scottish Ceilidh
Sir Luke got to film the dance performance of the local Scottish Highland Dancers. Kali Stoker is in our ward and her mom, Deena, hooked Sir Luke up with the job. I decided to come along and photograph. What better opportunity?
The dancing was amazing. I couldn’t believe the air that some of those girls got! It was really incredible. The night was a tribute to Robert Burns and master fiddler Ed Pearlman played the fiddle and the Desert Skyes Pipes & Drums performed. Champion Dancer Kimberlee Couper performed as well. She was spectacular.
The whole thing was amazing. The littlest girls were darling. Always looking around to see how everything was done.
I would love to do it again!
