Road Trip
When I was a kid we went camping. But this wasn’t exactly everyone’s idea of camping. My parents and I drove a twelve passenger van with a 20′ trailer tacked on the back. A lot of room for only three people, but I didn’t know any different. Everyone had beds there was a bathroom and shower as well as a stove and an oven.
That was the life!
Well, now that I’ve discovered that our beaut of a towncar can pretty much tow anything (see video and or FAIL blog and or story) and still remain intact, I’ve decided I want an Airstream, and I don’t mean when I’m old and grey. I want it NOW! I would love to drive around during the summer and go to different towns photographing and meeting people and exploring the country. There are so many places that are waiting to be discovered!
Thanks for scanning the photos mom!
Fourth Picture in the Fourth Folder
Valerie tagged me on her blog post last week on photos. The game is this, look in your fourth folder (I didn’t have one so I sorta cheated, I’m VERY organized with my photos and I only had three folders in my Photo folder on my desktop) and then the fourth photo in that folder (I did use the fourth picture, but in the third folder).
Anyway, now that that’s out of the way, I’m not going to tag anyone but if you feel like experimenting I’d love to see your photos, seeing as how I love pictures.
This picture is of my friend Anne. It wouldn’t normally be on my computer but I’m making new business cards with my new logo and this will be on of the images that resides on ths back. I went to NYU for one semester back in 2004. It was an awesome experience, even if it did hold me back the rest of the time I was at BYU. Anne and I became really close, along with another woman Domenica. Unfortunately, I am horrible at keeping in touch with people and I haven’t spoken to her in years. She’s from Providence, raised atheist, and attended Brown. She is stunning and I loved photographing her. Once she let Domenica and I photograph her while she was sobbing over her loser ex-boyfriend who was beaing a total beast to her. It was the most intense photo shoot but it I got some really powerful images.
This photo is when I learned to use mixed lighting. Can you believe that was the view from our studio at school? A far cry from the HFAC studios… I miss you Anne! I hope you’re doing well!
MAIYA
My Adventure Is Your Adventure!
Capree is head of MAIYA and a good friend of mine. She features awesome artists and modern tips on home decorating.
She is also a fabulous photographer with an edgy style. You can purchase some of her work in her Etsy shop, check it out!
MAIYA recently started a sponsorship and I was lucky enough to get in early! You can find a big’ ol’ button on My Adventure Is Your Adventure for MegRuth Photography. Shoot her an email to get pricing and get your button on her site as well! It’s a great way to spread the word on whatever you’re trying to sell. Her work has been featured on several major blogs and she writes for Grassroots modern every week so she’s got some great traffic already, and it will only go up from here!
Thanks Capree!
The Fackrell Family
This is the second session in Tawnya’s birth story. Soon to be posted on the new website! Tawnya and Kyle just became parents eight weeks ago. Very exciting! And is James not so precious? He had this concerned look on his face through about 95% of the shoot. But we got a couple little smiles out of him. He is darling.
Congrats Tawnya and Kyle!
You can view the entire session here.
The Holderness Family
Carolyn and I were good friends our freshman year at BYU where she met Kip. After his mission they got hitched and are now pregnant with number two. You might be able to tell she’s preggers in about 1.5 pictures.
Is Lainey not the cutest thing ever?
You can view the entire session here.
Launched!
Somehow by some miracle of miracles and lots and lots of prayers I finished my new website in under a month. There are a few people that made it possible.
Nicki-Six – for helping me figure out my logo
C-Face – for video conferencing with me and directing me to Craig Campbell
Craig Campbell – for all his sweet tutorials
and
SIR LUKE! – Seriously? Who could ask for a better husband? No one I tell you, no one. He hugged me when I slumped into a puddle on the floor, confused as all get out at Flash coding, made me lunch and dinner many many times, and pretty much made most of what’s on my website happen.
Don’t critique me too harshly, I’m no graphic designer, nor programmer, so it’s fairly amateurish but it gets the job done and looks about 100 times better than my last website. Thanks to everyone who has helped me put this thing together. I honestly couldn’t have done it without you!
Now all I need are a few dozen clients. Got any referrals? I travel!
It seems as though I’ve knocked one goal off my list already this year. It is indeed the fine 2009!
