Remotes
Sir Luke and I like to play video games. Mind you my abilities are probably on par with his in his sixth year of life, but I’m working on it. I did come in first in Mario Kart the other day though. That was a proud moment consisting of many a fist pump.
So my wish is to be able to share awesomeness of video games with our friends. A nice wish yes?
Polaroid 4×5
You may have picked up on the fact that I love shooting 4×5 Polaroid.
Soon, it will all be gone. I don’t really know what I will do when my 4×5 camera becomes a relic instead of a tool for my artwork. So right now I am wishing for more 4×5 Polaroid film. Specifically type 59 and 79. I still have quite a bit of type 55, another favorite.
You can get it still on Ebay. I really hope Fuji takes over the instant film market. We need it!
Swamp #1
My second wish list wish is this gorgeous photograph by Dorthe Alstrup from 20×200.
Besides being from Denmark she is a glorious photographer. I am in love with Swamp #1. I want to get it in the Large format and frame it to put over my bed. It’s so serene and has such depth. It’s wonderfully velvet.
It also doesn’t hurt that her name is so similar to my favorite photographer.
Wishes
After last weeks thankfulness I’m going to be selfish! So all week I’m going to wish for things.
First on the docket is a WACOM tablet. For those of you who aren’t total geeks a WACOM tablet is a dream come true for a re-toucher. Right now I retouch everything with my track pad on my laptop. I’ve gotten pretty used to it but it’s a pain and I go a lot slower.
Once upon a time I got to retouch for my friend James using the tablet. It took me a bit to get used to it but once I got going the fluidity was amazing. It works with a pen and the tablet. The tablet represents your entire screen and the pen is the mouse. It’s like painting the flaws out of your photos. I’m salivating.
My Life
An American Life.
I am grateful for the fantastic interviews and programs on This American Life. It is fantastic to listen to on road trips or while I’m editing photos.
On my last road trip with my parents we listened to three or four episodes. None of us could get enough. It always ignites conversation and constructive debates. I love thinking about things with a different perspective.
Not only can you listen to these broadcasts on the radio but you can download the podcasts AND watch episodes on TV or Netflix. It’s a glorious world. I’d recommend listening to the episodes on the mortgage crisis and the bailout. Very interesting.
Mother and Father DO NOT READ THIS
I’m thankful for the internet.
This year I don’t even have to go into a store and face the daunting world of present purchasing. I can stay at home, in my PJs and make a gift for my parents for Christmas.
How sweet is that?!

Blurb is an online bookmaking site that is super easy to navigate. You download their offline program Book Smart and start making your personalized book. I’m stoked about the outcome. I made one to commemorate our summer trip to Yosemite, and despite a minor printing glitch, which they are fixing for me, I’m pleased with the outcome.
