Mushrooms
In my insane blog reading of 2007 I scored some pretty sweet finds. One of which is my favorite artist of 2007, Amy Ross.
I found her on my first venture to my favorite economical art store 20×200 Her work is fantastic and magical and brings many ounces of joy to my heart. I feel like every childhood dream I ever had becomes real in her work. How does she do it?
Mushrooms!
There is something mysterious about the underside of a toadstool.
She doesn’t only do mushrooms and collages, she paints as well, oh golly she paints. These are some of my faves. I think I like goats and sheep.
At this point you are wondering why I have suddenly chosen to go ga-ga for Amy Ross. It is not sudden my friends, no, no. I like to search out ephemera and other glories on Etsy.com Christina often asks me if I just sit around and search random things on etsy. And maybe I do. But I happened upon a book of mushrooms by chance the other day and decided I should alert Ms Ross of its existence. So I commented on her blog. I’ve commented before; I comment on a few blogs but mostly friend’s. So this evening when Sir Luke and I came home from seeing Juno (you can visit his blog for his review, it will be up soon enough) I had an email from none other than Amy Ross!!!!!
Email:
“Megan, thanks so much for thinking of me when you saw those books for sale online! I have been searching around online to see if I can find that mushroom one for cheaper, but I might just end up buying the set you linked to. I really appreciate that you took the time to send that link to me!
All best,
Amy”
Thanks for appreciating me Amy! I LOVE your work, and someday I will get to have a piece to display in my home.
you just made my day, her work is amazing!
You are the sweetest! Thanks for the art love.
