Beaches

No, not the movie. Actual beaches. I miss beaches terribly. I think I took it for granted growing up over the mountains from the salty air of Zuma Beach in Malibu, CA.

My dad’s parents had a beach house while he was growing up. The majority of the time it was rented out as a vacation home but during the 70s and 80s my grandparents lived there. Unfortunately the house washed out to see in 1983 during a serious storm. It was a really hard time for my family, memories washed away along with irreplaceable possessions. My grandmother passed away shortly there after but we still make trips down to THE rock that was in front of her little oceanfront house.

My cousin Jeff works for Adobe (lucky!) and made this amazing PDF with old video from the beach days. To view the PDF in it’s full glory you need to have the newest version of Adobe Reader: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html?sdid=DXAIG it’s FREE! Once you’ve got the new version of Adobe Reader click here to download the PDF. You can click on the little icon in the center of the page that pops up to get to the real PDF. It’s an interesting read and the Super8 footage is beautiful.

Mmmm, beach.
