Lifestyle Newborn Family Sessions

Posted on Jul 6, 2015

In the past year all my friends are having babies left and right! It’s so wonderful and a miracle. I’ve shot a few lifestyle newborn family sessions for them along the way. What makes a lifestyle session different from standard newborn sessions is that they are more of a reflection on your new day to day life. Spending time together with your new bundle in your room (looking fabulous of course, hair and makeup teams are heaven sent for new mom’s on photo shoot days).

I don’t do crazy newborn poses that look awkward and uncomfortable and needs tons of retouching. I offer my past brides a relaxed session that involves special moments captured between you and your spouse and your new baby. I come to you, we wrap up that precious baby, and just soak in the beauty of the new reality.

Ruby’s Donut Party!

Posted on Jun 5, 2015

I had essentially been plotting Ruby’s first birthday party since the day she was born. It seems silly to look that far in advance but sometimes when you’re in the midst of an all night cry fest it helps to look to the happy milestones that are on the horizon. One of my favorite things I did in preparation for her first birthday was taking monthly photos of Ruby. I unintentionally put her in white the first two months so I decided to just carry on with it (minus one jean dress).

Ruby is a lover of donuts, a lot of donuts all the time. Nothing is better for a party theme than something that can be used in multiple ways, i.e. food, decor, favors, games. We had our local donut shop, Pink Box Donuts, make a ton of mini frosting-less donuts for our guests to decorate (game) and take home (favor). I cut out a ton of cute donuts on my Silhouette and put them up around the house as decor but also used those donuts for the “Pin the Donut on the Ruby” game as well. The best part of the party was the donut table full of all different kinds of tasty treats and featuring the amazing workmanship of Pink Box in the R-U-B-Y shaped donuts. It was one of my favorite things from the day.

To make the decor complete I employed Melanie Monroe to design the party invitations as well as a all over donut print that I was able to print at Staples on the giant printer for table covering and wall decor (I actually stayed up late the night before the party and painted over a wall that didn’t match my color scheme of pink sprinkle donuts, haha!).

Ruby was pretty overwhelmed with so many people in her house and became pretty devastated with us singing “Happy Birthday” to her. It was adorable and hilarious. It was her party and she could cry if she wanted to! I was so grateful to Jaynie from Ebb & Flow Ink for making Ruby’s milestone chart that we now have up in her bedroom and Christine Olson Photography for manning the camera so I could enjoy the party. And an especially big thank you to my mom for helping me get everything ready that morning in the frenzy that is party prep!

Lesley & Tom: Engagements in Downtown Las Vegas

Posted on Apr 28, 2015

These two have one of my all time favorite “how we met” stories. Both Lesley and Tom are pharmacists in Arizona. For years they worked at different Walgreens pharmacies, calling each other daily to check up on prescriptions and patients. Finally one day Tom got the nerve to ask Lesley on a date. “How do you know I’m not ugly?!” asked Lesley in jest. Tom wasn’t worried and the rest is history! Isn’t that the coolest and most unique?

Lesley and Tom love to travel and come to Vegas on the regular to get away. They wanted a more casual vibe in a vintage Vegas setting. We went downtown to Fremont Street and explored The Container Park. It was beautiful!

Wedding Tips Collab: Bridesmaid Cookies with Gimme Some Sugar

Posted on Apr 24, 2015

I love, love, love creative ways of asking bridesmaids to stand with brides on the wedding day. I also really love sweets, and pretty sweets are even better! Today I’m showing off how to send a sweet treat that doubles as a cute and creative way to ask your best girlfriends to be your bridesmaid.

I partnered with Gimme Some Sugar here in Las Vegas to design a darling cookie that would be so easy to have customized to suit your bridesmaid’s style or your wedding color scheme. Plus the cookies (along with every confection) are amazing at Gimme Some Sugar. Ashley and Kristen are so easy to work with and have great ideas. The process was so smooth and obviously my idea came to life with Kristen’s keen eye and design sense.

It was so easy to embellish a plain white box with wash tape (available online or at most craft stores like Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, or Joann’s). I filled the box with crinkle paper. The inside of the lid would be a perfect place to personalize the box for each bridesmaid. What do you think? How have you asked or how to you plan on asking your bridesmaids to stand with you on your wedding day?

Huge thanks to Gimme Some Sugar for the gorgeous cookies! P.S. While I was writing this blog post my toddler got very angry that she couldn’t eat these cookies. Hilarious and adorable!

Amber & Daniel: Engagement Photos at The Smith Center Las Vegas

Posted on Apr 20, 2015

One of my favorite things about couples and their weddings are the ways in which they infuse their personalities and preferences into their wedding day theme and style. When Tara, from Scheme Events, contact me to schedule Amber and Daniel’s engagement photos she told me that their wedding would be industrial chic with robots! Sold!

Daniel is a mathematician (anyone else think of The Phantom Tollbooth and the Mathmagician?!) and a little geeky, which I love, and Amber is an endocrinologist. Essentially these people are smarty pants with a capital Smart. We headed down to the Arts District and then to the Smith Center to explore.  Engagement Photos at Smith Center Las Vegas Engagements | Scheme Events | Amelia C & Co Hair and Makeup | Meg Ruth Photo | Las Vegas Wedding | Downtown Las Vegas Photos
