Display Thursday – Fabric

Apr 21, 2011  |  Posted by: Megan Stay

I love sewing. Love it. I make quilts and stuffed animals and curtains and on and on. I’ve been sewing since I was five. My mother taught me and her grandmother taught her. She even made my wedding dress. Don’t be too jealous. I knew I’d have to incorporate fabric into photo displays somehow and I am drooling over this first project.

I love cyanotypes. They have a beautiful quality to them. I love how it makes every photograph look kind of romantic and vintage. The best kind of combination. This pillow is super easy to make!

A keepsake board like this is lovely for combining the old and new. Easily make one at the link below or purchase one. Use fabric to match the decor in a room and rotate images for a fresh look.

This is a great gift for Father’s Day or as a gift a child could make for gifts. I love the simple an chic nature of this bookmark. It’s totally classy.

There are endless things you can do with photographs and fabric. What things would you do?

Looking forward to photographing my sister-in-law’s wedding this weekend! It’s going to be wonderful and full of lots of family and friends. I seriously can’t wait!!!

For a family reunion a few years ago, we did cyanotype (thanks, Travis!) Everyone got a square (about 1 foot) and got to do whatever shadows they wanted on it. Some things turned out fabulously and others we still can’t figure out what objects were used. 🙂 My mom is making them into two quilts that were raffled off at our last family reunion. (I won one of them!) I think it’s an awesome idea that helps preserve memories, personalities, and family togetherness.
