Draping Mom-a-lou

My mom took the job of modifying the sheer drapes that were hanging on tension rods in the windows. They were too long for the window but didn’t touch the floor. So she added the dark blue crepe to the sheer that she cut to fit the size of the actual window. This way there is a dark blue panel that will meet the floor and the drape looks like it’s meant for the window.

It was a good way for us to save money on fabric. Probably not a bad idea for a lot of people. Use a pre-made sheer and embellish it to make it your own and fit your space better.

Isn’t my mom cute?

I still haven’t figured out how to make Sir Luke‘s speakers look less obtrusive…

We did a similar thing with our drapes. We got these sweet teal velvet drapes from Ikea, but they were too short. So Brady’s mom added a panel of grey on the bottom for us. They look pretty good, although I would have preferred just the velvet – we saw a longer length in Ikea the next week. Bummer. But the panel trick is definitely a great idea and one that a lot of people would probably find beneficial!
