On Wednesday morning my nephew Adam and my brother-in-law Jeff were planning on making a ten mile hike as part of earning a merit badge for Boy Scouts. Sir Luke had made one only a week or two before with his Boy Scouts. Out of no where I had this serious urge to go and so the two of us joined along with another brother-in-law Omar.

We started at 7AM and it was absolutely gorgeous. I couldn’t believe how still it was. We hiked along the valley floor from Camp Curry (where we stayed) to Bridal Veil Falls. About a quarter of the way through my knees started giving out. This followed by the realization, upon arriving at Bridal Veil, that there wasn’t a tram that went out that far and I was going to have to hike another 5.5 miles back to camp. My body was a total mess for the rest of the trip. I had compensated for the pain in my knee by walking all wonky and ended up tweaking my hip. Thus my grandma limp the rest of the trip.

My mom had the idea to go through some old family albums and film her going through the albums and everyone’s memories and responses. Unfortunately my mom grabbed the closest albums to the front of the cabinet on the way out the door and they weren’t all very relevant to the siblings at the camp. Sir Luke filmed it and will be editing it at some point. Perhaps I’ll be able to post it at some point. It was a fun evening. Jacob, another newphew decided (after uncle Luke let him operate the camera) that he wanted to be a camera man for his job.
