Power to the People

Posted on Jan 8, 2008

I don’t know what it is about Missy Elliot, but that woman gets me pumped to conquer the world. Every time one of her sweet ace tunes comes up on my iPod I feel like I can take over the universe. And thanks to my dear Sir Luke, I feel glam rock every time I pull my iPod out of my satchel.

To Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliot and my dear Sir Luke. You have made today my “Power to the People” day!

Officially a Wife

Posted on Jan 8, 2008

I’ve been coveting a red Kitchenaid mixer for a few months now. I registered for one at Target and some lovely ladies in my ward back home banded together and got a gift card so I could obtain one at a more reasonable time, i.e. when I don’t have to move across the country.

Yesterday as I was dreaming of the day I would obtain said Kitchenaid I decided to hop over to the Target site and found out that there are exactly 23 different colors to choose from. I couldn’t take the madness, I had to call in for reinforcements. That’s when Lisa-Face came into the picture.
“Holy Kitchen Aid mixers, Batman!

That’s ridiculous!”

She, in all her ingeniousness, started pining for Persimmon and Cinnamon. I told her about our recent venture to the outlets near Sir Luke’s parent’s home in Boston. They had a Majestic Yellow mixer on sale for $169.99! But sadly the red mixer I wanted was still $299.99. As much as I love the happy, cheery face of a yellow mixer, my heart was set on red.

Again, Lisa and her magic mind came to my rescue. “I wonder if you could find it discounted online?” So I decided to Google “yellow kitchenaid 5 qt.”

SUDDENLY!!! A blog with a great bit of info popped up with discounted Kitchenaids in every color available on Amazon.com! PLUS: $30 rebate from Kitchenaid themselves!

You can imagine the rest is history. $169.99. Red Kitchenaid.

Christina said, “congratulations. you are officially a wife.”

The Great 2008

Posted on Jan 5, 2008

Dearest,

Considering it’s already the 5th of January (my sister, Keri’s, birthday) and I haven’t yet made a list of my goals for 2008 AND I just modified my hideous blog into something I like a little more AND this is the longest sentence I’ve written all year; I think I shall get on with it.

Steady the scripture study
Be less negative (which I guess is already pessimistic)
Start my Etsy shop and sell some of my new creations
Produce one photograph a week
Decorate at least three rooms in my new house
Make a delicious meal 3 times a week or more
Buy a Wii and beat Luke at tennis and/or boxing
Join a gym in Las Vegas and go 4 times a week
Type emails and chats with correct capitalization and punctuation
Finish statistics (I don’t want to hear about this from anyone)
Travel outside the country
Spend more time with my family

Last year I did reach about half of my goals. It’s good to know, but I’d like to complete all of them this year. Thank you, yes YOU, for making my 2007 the best year to date!

Love,
Megan

Luke Stay said that you two are married…

First, I love Facebook and it’s emails.

Second, I need to say that I was incorrect in saying that Rosemary Clooney sings “danke schone.” Because apparently she never has. I was misinformed by my iPod. It is indeed Wayne Newton. All I can say is, wow.

Third, getting married and being married are pretty fun. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I loved pretty much everything about the day. There will never be anything like the look on Luke’s face when I came out in my dress all ready to embark on our walk out the front of the Los Angeles temple. It was the best moment of the day. That and shoving half a cupcake in his face.

Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated or wanted to be there but couldn’t. You helped make the day amazing. A special thank you to our parents and of course to my dear friend and insanely talented friend Jessica for providing the most glorious pictures of the day. And I’ve only seen 5 so far. I can’t wait to see the rest. Her style and color are exquisite.

Danke Schone

I cannot describe all the feelings tied up in my body today.

I’ve written 3 sentences already and erased them all. I don’t know how to tell anyone who I’ve spent time with in New York how much they’ve meant to me.

Some things I want to say to a few people.

You helped me come out of my shell.
You laughed your way home and made me smile.
You played both sides so well, thank you.
You helped me stay focused and directed.
You made me feel special, even if it was so short.
You gave me great hugs.
You danced for me whenever I wanted.
You showed me how to be spontaneous.
You opened my eyes t the real world.
You treated me like family and talked me through a lot.
You humored me with nicknames.
You tutored me in domesticity.
You thought I was talented.
You loved what I loved.
You made faces.
You love me.

I’ll be back. But not for long. Las Vegas is calling our names and we’re comin’ a runnin’ on February 1.

I heard Rosemary Clooney sing Danke Schone on my iPod on Wednesday morning while I was going to work. (I’m telling you putting your entire iPod on random is the best thing ever). I can’t find this song by this Rosemary anywhere on the internet or iTunes. So, if you want a copy of it let me know. And to whomever gave it to me in our music sharing extravaganzas, Danke Schone.

Pansies!

I was having a good ol’ dating conversation today with a good friend of mine. And she made this comment.

“why are boys so damn scared! i want someone to do something dramatic…

like ask me to marry (him) while fighting pirates!”

Come now men! Is it really that hard? Ask the girl out for crying out loud! She’s beautiful, amusing, has great style and taste in music. She makes great food, is smart. Is this frightening to you? If so, why? Is an independent woman that intimidating?

Are you afraid of the word no? So, your ego gets a little bruised. Get over it! If you think she likes you, give it a go. If it doesn’t work out find someone else to pine after. YOU CAN DO IT!

Now, go fight her some pirates!
