Display Thursday – Wood

Posted on Apr 14, 2011

Today’s display features use of wood with photographs. I love the raw nature and texture of a piece of wood.

I love the wall covering in this modern living room. Using wood hangers makes it easy to swap out artwork and photographs to vary your display depending on your mood or the time of year!

If you have a more rustic space a piece like this might suit your home more. It’s a great way to incorporate nature into any space. This could be make easily by grabbing some twine from the garage and a fallen branch from the backyard. Totally DIY!

I’m sure you’ve seen photo cubes like this before but I had to share. These are great for an office or shelving unit. Rotate the cube for a different image everyday. Adding more cubes for different years of your family’s life and build structure right on your desk or mantle.

I hope these ideas get you thinking about ways to incorporate uses of wood in your home and photo displays!

Display Thursday – Parties

Posted on Apr 7, 2011
Planning a party? There are great ways to use photographs at parties. Here are a few suggestions to personalize any event.
I love this 50th anniversary display that Martha Stewart shared a couple months ago. Such a great way to catalog the years spent together.
What about making frames from Legos? I love this idea for a party for kids. Take instant photos of each kid with the birthday boy/girl and then they can build a frame to take it home in!

I love these face labels! These could be used for pretty much any party or reception. You can embellish so many things with a photo sticker.
I hope these ideas inspire you! Do you use photos at the parties you do? How do you incorporate images into the festivities?

Kate & Regan: Married!

Posted on Apr 6, 2011
The day Kate & Regan got married was a blustery nearly raining kind of day. They were married in the Las Vegas LDS temple and held their reception at a seriously amazing church building in Henderson. I was a little nervous that the weather would not cooperate but it turned into the most beautiful day with gorgeous light. Just goes to show that even crazy weather can be gorgeous.

Kate DIY’d just about every single thing at this wedding. She and Regan are both graphic designers and decided to design their own invitations. The flowers and centerpieces were all done by the bride and friends. Even Kate’s wedding dress is an original made by a friend. Her mom made the streamers which completely changed the whole venue into a festive party atmosphere.

I love these people. There isn’t much more I can say. These kids crack me up on a regular basis and Melissa and Jefferson are some of the best people I know. We decided to venture out to Nelson, NV for their photoshoot and it was so much fun! The kids loved the buses and motorcycles. The weather was perfection. I could have never

Katie & Ryan: Married!

Posted on Apr 4, 2011

Katie and Ryan decided Vegas was the best place to celebrate their big day with style and the closest friends and family in tow. I had so much fun with these Air Force kids on their wedding day! This couple was a dream to photograph. The bridal party had me in stitches and all smiles the entire day. It’s such a pleasure to photograph people like that. The ceremony was held in the gorgeous Origen room at Springs Preserve. A complete break from the ordinary this circular room is so romantic and was the perfect background for Katie and Ryan. The elegant florals were provided by Enchanted Florist. A dinner was held following the ceremony at Joe’s Seafood Prime Steak & Stone Crab in another circular room. It was a beautiful vintage setting with amazing food.

Katie chose a stunning gown from Lazaro and sparkly heels by BCBG. To top off her attire Your Beauty Call did an amazing job with her hair and makeup. Vintage Hollywood glamor was in order and LaVey and Janine totally delivered!

The entire event was planned and coordinated by the wonderful ladies of Green Orchid Events. Angelica was a dream to work with!
