Found

This photo has been up in out house for ages but I begged my mother to scan it for me so I could keep it forever.

My father used to work for the Santa Monica Fire Department, first overseeing all the fire alarm boxes around the city, then as the person to remove them all (picture from newspaper article, article not to be found) and finally as a fire inspector. He had a pretty rad job that entailed going to movie and television sets. Yes, I did get to have a signed cast photo of 7th Heaven when I was thirteen which was, at the time, the highlight of my life!

Currently our mailbox and doorbell both look like the box you see in the photo below. Don’t be afraid just pull the alarm.

Speaking of pulling fire alarms… Once upon a time there was a mother and father and a little girl who went to their nation’s capitol to see the sights. They decided to go to a children’s museum, all hands on! Super exciting for a child who had been to many places that banned all touching of artifacts. She got to stand in a giant bubble and play games. Upon turning the corner they all saw a lovely fire alarm on the wall. Clearly all things being hands on included the fire alarm. The father decided to pull said alarm. Unfortunately, to the surprise of all patrons and the mother, father, and child the entire building began to wail with ringing bells. Everyone ran out of the building and the three bolted and continued on down the street.

They weren’t going to wait to find out if anyone found out who pulled the alarm.

Changes

Some things have been changing around the blog and website. I’ve been working on making my own website from scratch in Flash. It’s been a toiling experience and I probably wouldn’t again but I’m happy with how it’s looking…as long as I can figure out why it’s being a little buggy.

Anyway so the point of this is, what do you think of the new logo?

So please don’t hate me as I might be a little lagging on the blog land while I finish this stuff up.

Thanks! You’re the best!

New Year’s Day was spent lunching and touring the studio of Mooney. We went to Panera for the second time that trip. It’s a new favorite of mine. Delish!

Jared’s studio, Dirty Water Sound, is awesome and I’m so excited that he’s living the dream.

New Year’s Eve

The Stays treated us to a night at Dave and Buster’s for New Year’s Eve. I didn’t go to arcades when I was a kid and I only recently got into the games of video so walking into an arcade is usually a little overwhelming. I generally stick to the skee ball lanes and air hockey. But this time, after running in circles for only about 15 minutes, Sir Luke got me to play some shoot ’em up games and we had a family car race.

It was pretty awesome.

I have to say I killed Sir Luke at Whack-A-Mole.

And if you’re wondering about the creepy nipple thing Sir Luke is touching, we were too.

Ann Poulson!

It’s hard not to shout her name. It’s too fun to say. Ann was kind enough to keep track of our abelskivver pan for almost a year. Ann works for Sotheby’s on the Upper East Side. She found a perfect spot for us to meet up for lunch before we drove back up to Boston.

Sir Luke and I took a walk over to the East End and across a random bridge by John Jay Park. It was a nice little adventure, even though it was about 20 degrees. There is always something new to discover in New York, no matter how long you’ve lived there.

Shake Shack!

I’m sure you thought we only went to the Flat Iron District once the day we spent in the city but you would be wrong. We went twice. I had dropped off some photos to be printed as a belated Christmas present for Sir Luke’s dad so we got to go back later in the evening to pick up my prints. It was the perfect time to indulge in a Shack Burger and a cup of the custard of the day.

Madison Square Park has always had fantastic art installations and this time I was surprised to see the entire park full of tree houses. It was fantastic. Check out more of Tadashi Kawamata‘s Tree Huts here.
