Dots

Here’s a peek at my weekend project. My mom came to visit and we worked hard Saturday and mostly completed the task. I still have some work to do when I get some rods in the mail.

Here’s some of the fabric we picked out for the drapes in the living room. We got it at JoAnn’s Fabric. It was actually left over from a custom order from another client. They didn’t actually have enough of it so we had to improvise. I think they will look great in the end. And how awesome will that look with my pom poms?

I didn’t find out ’til we were at the store that Sir Luke doesn’t actually care for busy. I should have remembered this from the issue of bedspread. It took some serious searching and compromise to register for our bedspread (all before I found my Dwell bedspread that I pine for everyday).

What do you think?

I was afraid it wouldn’t work with the wall color but it is going to be great!

Facebook & Ebay, lives ended and begun

Some guy on Facebook pretended to be the prince of Morocco on Facebook and was sentenced to three years in prison. Lucky for him, he was pardoned.

Wow.

In other news, some poor Australian guy is selling his entire life on ebay. He and his wife divorced and he’s coping with it by selling everything he owns in one fell swoop, pocketing the cash, then heading to the airport with a passport and taking the first flight out to anywhere in the world. How is that for a fresh start. You can visit his website here.

“ALife4Sale.com is exactly what it says. My whole life is for sale.

Everything. Lifestyle. House. Car. Motorbike. Job. Friends. Everything that I own, and all of the things that I don’t own, but that are still an important part of my life!”

That is right, is employer is allowing the person who wins the auction to try out his job for a couple weeks, and possibly get hired! I don’t entirely understand the selling of friends but if I were being sold on ebay I don’t think I would like that. Then again I would probably want to help out a friend.

Regardless, I’ll be keeping my eye out for it on June 22nd. I wonder how much money he’ll actually make.

Vent and Purge

I like my job so far. I think the nice thing about this being my third grown up job is that I actually know what I’m doing. Everything that has to do with the general function of the job I already know. All I’m learning now are the details of the company.

I am a firm believer that where you are in life is related directly to what you’ve put into it. My skills and abilities to manage and problem solve come from my previous experiences. I worked hard and gleaned everything I could from each position I’ve had.

I guess all of this is just in response to some hurtful comments from someone yesterday. In essence I was being told that because I just started and I’m an assistant to my boss that my abilities are not worth my salary and I have an unfair advantage. I made my life choices. I left a great job and moved across the country having faith that everything would work out. I searched for over a month for a job that would meet my requirements and allow me to grow in my field.

It’s frustrating that I’m letting it get to me but when you think you’ve made a friend and then they turn on you it’s a little uncool.

I hope with time this person will see that I am worth my weight. I know that I am.

Curb My Curtain

Posted on Mar 21, 2008

Our walls are blue and white. Our couch is brown. We have hints of red in our living room and fairly white carpet. Which of these should I use to make my curtains?

I like busy.

And regardless of what Sir Luke wants or anyone else thinks, there will be dark blue pom poms on the edges of the curtains.

Morality Schmorality

My favorite thing that happened yesterday at work.

Thomas comes into the back room and says to me, “As a person who has morals, if you cheated on your husband would you tell him?”
