Keyser Family: Utah Family Photographer

Posted on Nov 1, 2012

It’s hard to categorize my love for this group of people. My sister, Julie, is nineteen years older than I am, my niece being only seven years younger, I grew up feeling like I was truly part of this family. It’s so bizzare to have my niece and nephew graduated from high school and starting on their paths in life on their own.

I can’t believe ho time flies! I’ve take so many photos of this group over the years and I’m happy to say, my work has gotten progressively better over that time. Maybe I’ll post a little progression of their bunch and my style over the last ten years or so.

Love you, Keysers!

Even their cute dog, Emmy, looked like perfection!

I am so very pleased to be featured today on an amazing wedding blog based in Ireland! I have to say in a swirling whirling world of wedding blogs the ladies behind One Fab Day put in a tremendous amount of work to make each feature informative, personal, and way beyond run of the mill.

I give each blogger a lot of information to help ease the process of writing about couples, but Naoise, Sue, and Karen to SO much more research over and above everything I sent to really explain things to their readers. I just love that.

Definitely check out the blog post (which so closely coincides with Nicki & Tyler’s first anniversary!) and soak up any and everything from One Fab Day!

Love you, Nicki & Tyler!

Jennifer & Dennet: Las Vegas Engagement Photos

Posted on Oct 15, 2012

I love love love shooting engagement sessions.

Jennifer and Dennet were simply amazing to photograph. They chose two of my favorite locations in Las Vegas. The desert and the Neon Museum. I am obsessed with photographing couples in love in the desolate desert, something so romantic about the isolation. The two of you, and practically nothing else.

Everyone has certain expectations going into any photo shoot. But the first thing I tell my couples is, “you can’t do anything wrong.” This put my nervous groom, Dennet at ease right away. If you want to love on your woman, do it. They were adorable.

The Neon Boneyard has had a serious face lift since the last time I was there in 2008 with Anna and Packy. It’s also great to see the evolution of my photography.
There is nothing quite like the Neon Museum. Stacks and stacks of vintage neon signs. The epitome of Vegas glitz and glamour. Jennifer took this to heart with her gorgeous outfit! She sparkled.

I’m so excited to share their wedding soon! Congratulations again to you both!

Make it Monday: DIY Library Card Pocket Wedding Programs

Posted on Oct 8, 2012

I was contacted by a couple getting married next year who needed some help with their library themed wedding. Such a great idea! There are so many wonderful things you can do with this theme and my ideas were brimming!

I decided to do a simple and adorable wedding ceremony program. I used a few different fonts for the DIY Library Card copperplate (which is standard on every computer), TWriter, and Writers Block. You can find the templates I created: Library Card Pocket and a PDF with the Library Card Layout that you can type over. I laid out the cards so there are 4 to a page so it’s the most cost effective. I recommend purchasing your library card pockets if you have more than twenty to make. They’re relatively cheap, but you can’t color coordinate them with your wedding colors.

What you’ll need:

  • Printed Programs Card Sheets
  • Library Pocket Template
  • Card stock in a coordinating color
  • Paper cutter
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Here’s what the templates look like.

Step 1: Cute your Library Card Programs down to size (make she they will fit in your pocket)

Step 2: Cut Library Card Pocket Template, trace it onto your card stock.

Step 3: Fold pocket flaps and glue flaps to seal. Insert card and wah-la! Finished program!

I hope you enjoy this cute and easy DIY Library Card Program!

Having a hard time figuring out what kind of DIY wedding projects you want to do for your big day with your theme and color scheme? Shoot me an email and I can help you come up with some ideas. Don’t be shy, I don’t bite! meg (at) megruth (dot) com

What do you think? Could you handle this one? It could be great as DIY shower invites or party invitations as well. Totally versatile!

I am so pumped for Jennifer and Dennet’s wedding!

I mean really, wouldn’t you be? I love photographing engagements out in the Las Vegas desert. There is such a romance in the desolation.

I can’t wait for tomorrow!

Hannah & Dick’s Wedding Album

Posted on Oct 2, 2012
I really love to make wedding albums. It’s the icing on my carrot cake, the denouement to a superb story. The way every wedding day story should end. Printed, bound, and shared for years to come.

Many thanks to Hannah and Dick for letting me be a part of their wedding day!
