The Next Project

I think I found my next DIY project.

I’m pretty excited about it.

Say I had to catch my own food, and I only ate really fast animals, my feet would eventually evolve into rockets.

I was attempting to clean up the kitchen since we finally bought new dish-washing detergent from Target with out “Monopoly Money.”

Well upon removing our glorious Chef knife from the dishwasher I managed to cut the tips of two of my fingers.

Don’t worry, the old tenants left Scooby-Doo band aids in the medicine cabinet. Yesss!

I’ve been trying to figure out how I’m going to get to Utah for a visit for the past few weeks. Well, friends, I got a nifty birthday check in the mail from my new parents. Thanks in-laws! Now we have the cash monies to get our little selves to the UT! Yay!

I wanted to go up and see a bunch of you fine cats AND take make some photographs of bursting Britta and my new sister-in-law Rebecca (who is co-owner of three cuties and a bun in the oven with this man).

Other things I want to do whilst I am there:

See my pals still kickin’ the Utah can
Hit up DI (a few)
Pick up some pictures from the wedding
See the Tree of Utah

Heaven Help Them

Last night, whilst we were painting two walls in our living room blue, Sir Luke asked me why I had not yet blogged about my recent love of the television show “Jon & Kate Plus 8.” It’s on TLC and I adore it.

Here is the story, but my version is shorter and gets the job done.

Jon & Kate marry and want a baby. Times are tough so they get a little help. They have twins! Four years later they want another baby, “just one more” they say. Out pop six! HELLO! So on to life and six 3 year olds and two 7 year olds. It’s a wild adventure and so entertaining. I love the interaction between Jon & Kate. They bicker and quarrel and always make up and they are really loving to each other in their own crazy way. And who can resist all those adorable faces? I can’t.

TLC was brave enough to take on the endeavor of capturing all those faces. I can’t even imagine. Honestly, they need the extra cash monies. The amount of food consumed in that house is crazy. Just think about it in ten years when they’re all teenagers, yikes!

Sorry, Sir Luke, there are more episodes to come.

Did You Know?

Because I didn’t know. Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward recorded an album together. She & Him.

I like this song.

Better, Closer, Warmer

Sir Luke and I found this desk (you have to sign up to see the link) in ReadyMade Magazine. It’s probably my most favorite magazine right now. That, and Martha Stewart Living.

We ventured to DI in hopes of finding a cheap file cabinet we could cover with contact paper. And as luck would have it they also had a door for sale. A big ol’ door that we could use as our table top. It’s perfect for our massive amount of computer equipment we both have. Plus I can sit at one end and Sir Luke can be at the other. There will be so much room! Then we hopped on over to the Depot and found us a cheap Genuine Burro Brand sawhorse.

So we made it.

I think it turned out pretty good. I forgot to do a before and after of the file cabinet. But just imagine that black and scratched and dented.

I was trying to search for a similar one online to do a mock “before and after” and while I was searching I found this.

I can’t believe they are charging $1,780.00 – $2,580.00. Here’s the breakdown cost of our file cabinet.

Cabinet – $15
Contact paper – $10

I saved between $1,755.00-$2,555.00. And mine looks dang good by comparison. Plus, it has racing stripes.
