Hey Guys, It’s Christmas Time!

Posted on Dec 14, 2006

First of all it’s Christmas Time!

You should go check out Sufjan Stevens new Christmas box set, which I will be purchasing soon because it’s amazing. But for now you can stream it on his label Asthmatic Kitty.

My favorite song is “Hey Guys! It’s Christmas Time!” on the Joy album. It’s fantastic. And you know sooner or later it will be the feature track on some home movie I make whilst in California. And yes that is right I go home in only 8 days! Amazing! I can’t wait

I just wanted to let you know how much I have hit it big at this point in my meager career. You know you are a star when you start receiving gifts and Christmas cards from studios and caterers. Even one of our photographers got me a gift…even though he drives me crazy with billing and it was a strange present I was so excited that someone wanted to give ME something! I’m only a PA for crying out loud!

Edwin Ho gave me a “scarf-vest,” although everyone in the office calls it a knitted bib. Who knows… It’s pretty awesome either way

See..there’s no back. When I opened it I thought it was a sweater and then I pulled it out and thought it was a scarf…but it’s a vest scarf…i guess?

And I got a whole box all to myself from Green Catering. I guess Sharon thinks I’m pretty important. I do book them a lot for shoots and meetings. It was so nice!

Olive oil and vinegar and lavender honey and some chocolate covered hazelnuts! HELLO! How about ripping sweet! I had no idea that this was the protocol of being in the industry!

THE BEST CONCERT EVER!!!!

I am officially in love with The Decemberists!!!!

I went to see the Decemberists last night with Christina at the Hamerstein Ballroom. The show was fantastic and it’s too bad it’s over. There were dance contests and singing duels (go house left balcony!) and a small skirmish in the middle of the crowd between and three band memebers and some of the audience that was roped in. AND best of all they sang my favorite song! “Red Right Ankle” There was thrashing about on the stage and throwing of guitars and knocking down of drum kits and piggy backs.

When is it not appropriate to have on stage:

5 guitars (probably more…)
2 violins
2 organs
1 drum kit
1 keyboard
1 slide guitar
1 cello
1 bass guitar
1 upright bass
1 banjo (yessss)
1 acordian (double yessss)

and one thing I couldn’t quite figure out…was it one of those things that creepy men in mustaches play whilst a monkey dances about? All I know is he was turning a crank on some big box hanging around is neck, and it was amazing!

The wonders never ceased. I wish you had been there to see the magic unfold before your very own eyes, my description would never do it justice.

WHOA!!!!

Last night was soooo fun! And if you weren’t here at our house I feel sorry for you because it was awesome!

The best part was probably, well everything. Becca made an awesome entrance with fog and scary sounds and a scary light mask and there were spider webs everywhere and scary posters and frightening masks, blood in the shower (a la psycho), bats galore, DDR, good tunes, AWESOME guests AND THE BEST PART….A MUMMY LIGHT!!! We probably spent about an hour getting it made. You have to see it to believe it!

Hooray for iChat and MacBooks

Yesterday amy called me right before I was about to go to bed. I was still pretty nervous about the talk I had to give today (it went well according to the crowd, so that was nice).

We were chatting it up when she told me Jordan was over, who I haven’t spoken to in ages. So he got on the phone and whilst talking I said, why don’t we get on iChat and webcam it up across he country?!!?

And wah-la!

Magic! It was like I was there, live in person. It was great. I almost stayed to watch a movie, but I needed to get some shut eye so I went to bed instead.

But before I did we had a growling gnome match:

And then I was serenaded:

And then Amy tried on the Narwhal shirt I got her:

Apparently they have all been obsessed with Tom Jones “It’s Not Unusual” and Amy asked Jordan to play the song Iron and Wine Style. It’s beautiful and warm and I miss being there.

With friends that are so far away it’s hard to remember what it was like before. I told someone a long time ago that I wished I could bottle up good memories and relive them whenever I want.

I think last night would go in a small blue bottle with a wooden cork and parchment paper written in black ink with a giant white quill pen.
