Keith & Charmaine – GIVEAWAY Finalist #5

Posted on Jan 28, 2011

This couple is adorable and I totally hear you on getting tight on budgets. I hope their puggle can be a part of their wedding because I love me some pugs! And if there’s a chance of Filipino food I am all in.

Here’s what Charmaine had to say”

She’s from Las Vegas and he’s from Boston, and we’re getting married in Las Vegas in 2012. We’re a goofy, fun-loving couple who met in Boston on one of the coldest days of the year. Now, along with our adopted puggle, Jojo, we’re on our way to starting a warm little family together. Recently we learned that our budget is more limited than we thought – we’re both graduate students and our parents are experiencing some financial challenges – but our hearts are big and we still want to have a fantastic party with as many family members and friends as possible. So, we’ve pushed back our nuptials and are tapping resources and our creative juices to figure out how to make it all work out. It should be a fun endeavor since Keith brings some Northeastern Irish-American fun and edge to balance out Charmaine’s eclectic Filipino-American and Southwestern style; we complement each other in a lot of ways. We’re also looking to add some personal and natural, eco-friendly touches to the whole affair. We think we’re pretty photogenic with lots of personality, so we – not to mention our awesome guests – would definitely be fabulous subjects for a photo shoot. Finally, Charmaine’s birthday is on Valentine’s Day, so this would be a great birthday present!”

How creative is this entry from Kate and Regan. they decided being graphic designers that this Love Chart would be a better way to get their point across. I love it!

John & Karla – GIVEAWAY Finalist #3

Posted on Jan 26, 2011
John is such a sweetheart and entered the giveaway for his upcoming wedding to his fiance Karla! What a guy! I loved their story and, let’s face it, I’m a sucker for a cute baby.
Here’s what John had to say:
Karla came into my life at the perfect time. We met through a mutual friend and had an instant connection. My Mom had just passed away and Karla was the sun to my cloudy days. My Mom and I were very close and having Karla there to help me grieve made her passing a bit easier. We have been together for five years and can not wait to finally become husband and wife! We daydream about how our wedding will turn out and know that no matter what, with great photography it will be a success. We are a fun couple that is thankful for each day spent with each other. Photography means a lot to the both of us. With the passing of my mom and the birth of our daughter Abriella 3 months ago, memories are everything. It is rare we have all of our friends and family in one place so capturing this special day with photos would be such a gift. We really would love to win because our wedding photos are something we will pass down to our daughter one day. They are the start to our family heirloom. Karla is a Nurse and her priority is always to take care of others. Having a great wedding photographer such as your self to capture our big day would be a big stress lifted off of her shoulders. We would love to fill our home with photographs taken from our wedding and have a constant reminder of the day we became husband and wife!”

Jon & Melisa – GIVEAWAY Finalist #2

Posted on Jan 25, 2011

Melisa emailed me with this adorable poem. I couldn’t help but put her in the finals! How awesome is this?

Well, Meg Ruth,

to tell you the truth-
we are in desperate need of some pho-tog-ra-phy.
Our wedding is approaching and I am desperately coaching
my fiancee on how things are done.
You see its wedding number two
for the both of us…
Each ones last wedding was especially atrocious-
mine taking the cake due to the photographer.
She was mean, she was viscious, she was downright a nightmare
hunting people down and giving them quite a scare
when they didn’t smile and say “cheeeeeeeeese”.
I’m quite sure that her experience was none
and even more sure some photos can be found on awkwardfamilyphotos.com!
We are in need of someone with heart
and we have seen you have talent-
your pictures are filled with your own special art.
Please choose us, I promise we are nice…
voting for us is definitely the best advice.”

Adam & Marissa – GIVEAWAY Finalists #1

Posted on Jan 24, 2011

You may recognize Marissa and Adam from an engagement shoot I did over the summer. They are such a fun couple and I was so thrilled that they entered the photography contest!

Here’s what Marissa had to say:
Our story is a simple one.  Adam and I met in 2001, dated a little and lost touch.  In late spring of 2005, I called him up and asked if he wanted to go play pool.  After that date, we sporadically went to the movies or dinner but neither of us were looking for a serious relationship.  However, I say that but, when he told me he was moving to Vegas because he had been hired by Clark County Fire Department my heart dropped.  It was hard to say, “Go for it”, when what I really wanted was for him to stick around.  After he moved, he went straight into the fire academy and usually on Sunday I would hear from him on the phone.  I was his buddy he could vent to about all the horrible things that he endured during the weeks of training.  In December of 2005, he graduated and I flew to Las Vegas for his graduation to show him how proud I was that his dream of being a fireman had come true!  After that, I would visit him every few months and he would come down to Los Angeles every few weeks.  We quickly started seeing and talking to each other more.  By summer 2006, we were both in love.  Shortly after that he was begging me to move to Vegas.  He begged for 2 1/2 years.  Finally I moved up in September of  2009.  We have been inseparable ever since.  Adam and I have been BEST friends since 2005 and love each other more and more everyday.  We can’t imagine a world without each other and can’t wait till October of this year to make everything official!
Growing up in Los Angeles, I was heavily involved in theater, dancing, modeling, acting and singing and the one question people would ask is, “Why do you think YOU should get the part?”  I hated that question.  And I never understood why they asked it, because every entertainer thinks, “because I’m the best”, or “because I deserve it.”  But the truth is, there are thousands of people who are just as good or better than you or just as deserving as you.  So, when you ask me why I think we should win free wedding photography from an amazing photographer, its difficult to come up with an unique answer.  The fact is that Adam and I have been planning, and working toward, and looking forward to our wedding day for quite a while now and we truly believe that WE deserve the BEST in photographic artistry.  Should we win, it will be our pleasure to share the news of our good fortune, and of course, our wonderful wedding photos with all our friends and family, on behalf of MegRuth Photography!
Thanks for considering our application,
Marissa and Adam
