Photo Ideas: Part I

Posted on Dec 3, 2010

Over the next couple weeks I’m going to be talking about some fun things you can do with your engagement photos and bridal portraits on your wedding day. I love DIY projects and these will all be things you can do yourself or have printed up by MegRuth Photography!

Today I’m starting with alternate guest book signing options. There are so many great choices out there these days. From modern turns on traditional guest signing options to a different take altogether, these are sure to get your creativity flowing!

Photo Canvas for signing – Make a canvas with a wide border for guests to sign. Hang it in a triptych with canvas pieces from your wedding for a beautiful collection of art for your home! There is always a more traditional signing board as well!

Photo guest book – Guests love to look through engagement photos while they find their favorite and sign on the page. Fill entire pages with full page images and leave others with small details. It will make your book interesting as you page through it later on. You don’t have to constrict your guests with lines the write on. You will get many more notes if you leave the pages blank with photos here adn there. Remember you are telling a story whenever you make a photo book! I recommend Blurb.com for book making. It’s a great source. Just make sure you check the box for “upgraded paper.” It looks much better.

Memory Quilt – I am completely enamored with quilts these days; as evidence here. And I think this would be such a lovely memory for a couple to snuggle up with on cold nights and read notes from friends and family.

Photo cards – Post cards with the engagement photos are a great keepsake for the bride and groom. Each guest can sign a note the the couple to put in a keepsake box. Go through beautiful photos and read the notes each person has so thoughtfully written.

Crystal & Jack: ENGAGED! Las Vegas Engagement Photographer

Posted on Dec 3, 2010

This couple definitely has a tender spot in my heart because it’s my sister-in-law and her fiance! During their drive down to California for Thanksgiving they stopped for a couple hours, perfectly timed for great light out at the dry lake bed just south of Las Vegas.

It was great to photograph a couple as adorable and in love as these two! I cannot wait until their wedding in April. They will be getting married in Boston with a reception at the New England Aquarium! I know you’re as excited as I am for those photographs!

Congratulations again, Crystal and Jack! You can view the entire event and order prints here.

My friend, Angie, wanted to have some cute photos of her youngest kids to accompany the school pictures from her oldest. We spent the afternoon doing everything on this green earth to get Emma to smile. She was a tough nut to crack but we got her!

Campbell was cracking me up with his cheesy grins, nothing a little tickling won’t cure!

Thanks for the great afternoon Fears family! You can view all images from the event and order prints here.

Holiday Card Special!

Posted on Dec 1, 2010

Can you even believe it’s already the middle of August?! I can’t believe the year is almost two thirds over. Crazytown, USA! The holidays are creeping up on us faster than you think.

To celebrate the upcoming seasons I’m offering you a pretty sweet deal. Update your family photo and get some sweet holiday cards in the process. For $100 you get a one hour session, 15% off your print orders for a month and 25 Christmas postcards or Hanukkah Postcards! You can even upgrade to a bi-fold card for only $20. There are several cards to choose from and they are all fun and festive. Personalization of family names is free but if you’d like to add a special message you can upgrade for $10.

All card orders take three weeks to process so make sure you get your session and order in by December first. You can order your session here. Make sure you note when you would like to do your session and which style cards you would like and add any upgrades to your order.

Did you already have a session with me this year? Then you’re eligible for cards too! Select the option for 25 cards for $25 and you can order as many as you like. Let me know which images you’d like to use. I will personalize yours at no charge.

So what do you think? Shall we make this a beautiful holiday season?

Isabella was the first two-year-old to look more at the camera than her parents! She was so darling, I wanted to take her home with me. She gave mommy a kiss and then daddy and then hopped off mommy’s lap to come give me a kiss! Melted my heart!

We ventured out to Monte Lago at Lake Las Vegas. It seems as though the hotel is closed down so there was next to no one around. Loved the freedom of wandering where we wanted and didn’t have to worry about people walking through our shots.

It was such a beautiful morning, even with the slight chill in the air! You can view the entire event and purchase prints here.

This family was so much fun to photograph. The twins were loving the ranch. Don’t ask me to tell you who was who because even though, Trisha told me about ten times every time they took off in different directions I had to ask again! They are definitely identical!

Trisha’s daughter was the prefect model. She did such a great job and she’s only five! It was such a great shoot and we got some great images.

Trisha makes and sells some great things in her Etsy shop Trisha B. Designs! You should check it out! She does custom orders on lots of items too!
