Southern Style Strawberry Cake

Posted on Feb 19, 2009

This is my new favorite cake. It was easy to make and is really tasty. Thanks to Joy the Baker for posting about it again for Valentine’s Day. I’m glad I got to spoil our guests with this giant piece of awesome.

Who doesn’t want to eat a pink cake?

Austin’s Birthday Party

Posted on Feb 18, 2009

Not only did I get to photograph Austin’s one year photos but we got to go to his first birthday party.

Heidi made THE most awesome cakes, I was super excited to have a piece of pirate cake and almost couldn’t wait, but I did.

Austin scored with some fabulous gifts and he seemed to really like his memory cards, which I was very excited about. I guess it helps when you put a bunch of people on them that he knows.

My camera battery died so I didn’t get the complete decimation of his very first birthday cake, a rad treasure chest, but you get the idea.

Hooray for the Goodriches!

A Strip of a Valentine’s Day

Three of Sir Luke’s siblings made an impromptu pilgrimage to Las Vegas for adventures on V-day. We had a blast goofing off around the strip.

Scuba divers, who knew?

Giant Piano at FAO Schwartz in Caesar’s. Ben and Crystal actually played Heart and Soul, I was impressed.

It was a grand day for sure. And it didn’t hurt that I got to spend the day clinging to Sir Luke’s arm.

The Field Trip

We took the WEBELOS to the Natural History Museum in Las Vegas on Saturday, Valentine’s Day. We learned about attraction, magnets and animals. I learned that when a Bearded Dragon is trying to catch a mate their beard turns black. Awesome.

Here are my scouts getting attacked by bears.

Here are my scouts bear hugging bears (there was a sign indicating this was ok, I promise).

And here they are saluting with a monkey.

Yes, I forgot my real camera…boo.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Posted on Feb 14, 2009

I made this for Sir Luke for Valentine’s Day. It was inspired by a shared item of Sir Luke’s a couple weeks ago. We didn’t have any money to spend on Valentine’s day this year so I was trying to think of things I could do for free!

This seemed like a fairly intensive project but something I could personalize and make our own. I think it turned out pretty good! I also entered it in the CRAFT Magazine Valentine’s Day Project Contest. I hope I win a subscription to their magazine!

What did you do for that special person in your life for the day of love.

Also, happy anniversary Mom and Dad!! I love you both so much!

I hope Sir Luke is as determined to get to me as this man is.

It’s important to watch the entire thing.
