Ye Olde Facebook

Posted on Sep 23, 2008

On Friday in celebration of Talk Like a Pirate Day, Facebook added a language option, “English Pirate.”

The only thing I was concerned with was the pirate way and marriage.

Chained? Really?

P.S. Why is everyone so against the new facebook layout? As soon as the beta came out I was on board. I love it.

First Day of Fall

The first day of fall has me thinking about a new wardrobe. Heavens, I love shoes and boy do I love Anthropologie.

My favorite shoes as of late are all produced by Poetic License. They all have gorgeous textile use and rich embellishments. Mmm, shoes. This pair inspired an entire fall outfit.

Captive Audience Sweater
Labyrinthine Tee
Squared Panel Skirt

What are you yearning for this fall?

The Secret of the Wooden Lady

Posted on Sep 19, 2008

My lovely friend Lisa is on her mission in St. Louis, MO. Sir Luke and I have been sending her post cards and little packages since she left in April of this year.

Recently she sent a postcard with the cover art from a Nancy Drew book on it. I’ve been intrigued by it ever since I made it’s home on our bulletin board in the kitchen. Last Saturday when I finally went to our library here and found it I had to pick it up. I think I only ever read one when I was a kid.

I have to admit I’m a sucker for a good mystery. Even if Carolyn Keene is totally obsessed with the word unusually.

MOO!

I started contemplating getting my business cards made by MOO.com. They have these mini cards which are quite a bit smaller than regular business cards but super sweet. I was talking to Capree about it the other day when she told me she was supposed to be getting her cards in the mail any day. Well, as luck would have it about 30 minutes after we started our conversation she got them!

I ordered mine that week, and although it took quite a while to get them I am super happy with them all! The best part is that I can have a different image on every card. I like the size, they’re petite and adorable. I will definitely be using them again in the future.

Hooray for MOO!

Slowly I Turn

When Sir Luke and I began registering, which we did entirely from the comfort of home (thank you internet), we opted not to register for a crock pot. We figure that being of the Mormon variety that it would come whether we wanted one or not. Upon finishing the unwrapping of all the lovely gifties we realized we were sans crock pot!

The revelation was devastating, although we did not realize how devastating until we actually bought one. Last weekend on a round of errands we swung by the ever wonderful Target and bought one. We’ve used it frequently ever since. And I have to say that I LOVE the concept of throwing a bunch of ingredients in a bowl and leaving it be for the day, coming back 7-8 hours later and have a meal waiting for you.

AMAZING!

I can’t wait to try Courtney‘s Crock Pot Cake!

1 package chocolate cake mix

1 container of sour cream (8 oz)

1 cup chocolate morsels

1 cup water

4 eggs

3/4 cup vegetable oil

1 package instant chocolate pudding mix

Spray crock pot with nonstick cooking spray. Mix cake mix, sour cream, chocolate morsels, water, egss, oil and pudding mix in a bowl by hand. Pour into crock pot. Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours or high 3-4 hours. Makes about 12 servings.

Surfside

Sir Luke made the trek with me down to Malibu at 5AM on Labor Day so I could take some 4x5s f the surfers. they aren’t exactly how I imagined but I am really happy with how they came out. I had them in my case too long and they weren’t dry yet…so they stuck a little.
