Everyday I Wake Up

I went to see Travis last night. It was by far the best show I have ever seen. I was absolutely blown away. Luke and Yancy came along for the fun and were pretty impressed themselves. I’ve been dieing to see Travis live since I was 15. The boys said I couldn’t stop smiling. I will admit I was pretty giddy. But can you blame me?

The opening consisted of the introduction to all the Fox films followed by the rocky song. They came bounding in from the back of the Fillmore and, YES, I high fived Fran! That’s right, you can officially be jealous.

They played all of my favorite songs. It was unbelievable. At one point I turned to Luke and said, “The only other song I really want to hear is “All I Want To Do Is Rock.” And lo and behold, the very next measure was the intro to that song.

The feeling of the crowd singing was incredible. Everyone was so thrilled to be there and hear them all. They are so much fun and play beautifully. I didn’t get to video a lot of stuff because I couldn’t stand still. I was bobbing along like no tomorrow, and it was glorious.

This cute little grandma was just singing along like it was her full time job. I like to think that she is Fran’s grandmother. It was so adorable.

One of the first songs they played was “As You Are.” I cannot tell you how dear this song is to me. It was heaven to hear it live. Spencer used to play this for me all the time. I wish he had been there to hear it with me. This is for you Spencebot.

I can’t wait to see them again.

Thanks, Travis, my dreams have finally come true.

Strange Days

I was moping around this morning. I got a nice hug from Holly and some encouraging words from Luke before I headed for work.

I got off at 23rd and walked to the east side of the street so I could hit up the CVS on 25th and grab a Dr. Pepper so I wouldn’t fall asleep at my desk today. There is a bank on the corner of 23rd. A money truck was unloading some cash. I have never seen that much cash in my life. There was a man unloading a second sack of it onto a dolly while another man stood near the sidewalk. i couldn’t stop staring at the stacks of 20s and 100s. As I stepped onto the curb and started heading up the street the first man began to pull our his gun from its holster. My heart fell when I locked eyes with him.

I don’t think he would have actually shot anyone if they had come toward all that money but it made me think about our society as I passed a man in a wheel chair with one leg sitting right outside the bank.

Why are we all so selfish?

The Living Is Easy

Summertime is for parks and treats and baseball and kites.

Ann’s cousin Collin turned 25 this past weekend. So she threw him a party any 5 year old would kill for. It is one of the best times I’ve had all summer. Her cupcakes and cake were amazing and the party favors and hats were a dream come true. Some of the highlights were “stick the butterfly on the log” and the wheelbarrow race. I brought my glove and played catch. It was the perfect Sunday afternoon.

In a word, perfect.

4th of July

My Fourth of July was awesome (more on that later) but this is one reason I miss Provo.

Thank you, Jordan Faux, for making all my dreams come true.

Stop That Motion!

I really love moving photography

This is a fan made video for Modest Mouse. Why don’t I do more stuff like this?

“Myself and a couple have friends have entered the above into the Modest Mouse video competition. Using green screen footage provided by the band we cut a simple music video. We then degraded the images and printed out each frame sequentially. (all 4133 of them) We then nailed each “shot” of 50-100 posters to various structures and posts. Then using a digital SLR camera with a long exposure we frame by frame shot each poster. Oh, and there’s a little video projection (again, frame by frame on the SLR) just to mix it up. There is no compositing, no shortcuts, just lots of blood, sweat and tears, and a huge Kinkos bill!”…. Max
